abstract Embodiments disclosed herein relate generally to hermetic electrical connectors for hard disk drives. The hermetic electrical connector includes a barrier structure having a first plurality of connection pads disposed on a first surface of the barrier structure, and a second plurality of connection pads disposed on a second surface of the barrier structure opposite the first surface. A plurality of conductors are disposed within the barrier structure, and each conductor is coupled to a connection pad of the first plurality of connection pads and a corresponding connection pad of the second plurality of connection pads. The barrier structure also includes a dielectric material between the first surface and the second surface, and one or more layers embedded in the dielectric material. The addition of the layer helps to block the helium flow, thereby improving the sealing of the electrical connector while maintaining high speed electrical transmission.
