titleOfInvention | Methods for diagnosing and treating Alzheimer's disease using G72protein and SLC7A11mRNA as biomarkers |
abstract | The present invention relates to methods for diagnosing and treating Alzheimer's disease using the G72protein and SLC7A11mRNA as biomarkers. The invention discloses a kit for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease. The invention also discloses the use of a supply of reagents for detecting biomarker levels for the preparation of a kit for diagnosing alzheimer's disease, wherein the biomarker levels are selected from the group consisting of: the G72protein level, SLC7A11mRNA expression level, and combinations thereof, and the step of using the kit for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease comprises: obtaining a blood sample from a human individual suspected of having alzheimer's disease; detecting the level of the biomarker in the blood sample; and comparing the detected biomarker level in the blood sample to a preset standard, wherein if the detected biomarker level in the blood sample is higher than the preset standard, the human individual is deemed to have alzheimer's disease. |
