abstract |
The present invention relates to the quantification of blood loss based on computed tomography. A system and method for quantifying blood loss based on contrast agent-based computed tomography imaging of a patient's torso is disclosed. To this end, the image data (BD) of computed tomography (CT) are first read in order to apply the image analysis method (2) on this image data for automatic detection of blood accumulation. The discrimination method (3) is then performed to differentiate between pathological and physiological accumulation of blood, and the quantification algorithm (4) is performed to calculate and output (5) a blood loss value for pathological accumulation of blood. |
