The present invention discloses metal chalcogenide nanomaterials including, for example, bismuth, copper, lead, silver, indium, tin and/or antimony chalcogenide nanomaterials. Also provided is a water-based and low-temperature method for synthesizing or fabricating metal chalcogenide nanomaterials. Also disclosed is a method of converting metal chalcogenide nanomaterials into nanotubes or nanosheets. The conversion steps described above include: forming an aqueous mixture of chalcogen precursor, reducing agent and metal chalcogenide nanoparticles in water; and forming metal chalcogenide nanotubes by stirring the above aqueous mixture, or by not stirring the above aqueous mixture to form metal chalcogenide nanosheets. |
