titleOfInvention Phosphor-converted white light-emitting devices and photoluminescent compounds for general lighting and display backlighting
abstract The present invention relates to a phosphor-converted white light emitting device comprising: a solid state light emitter LED operable to generate blue light having a dominant wavelength in the range of 440nm to 470nm; a yellow to green light emitting phosphor operable to generate peak emission wavelengths in the range of 500 nm to 550 nm; and red light emitting manganese-activated fluoride phosphors, such as manganese-activated potassium hexafluorosilicate phosphors (K 2 SiF 6 :Mn 4+ ). The yellow to green phosphors and the red light emitting phosphors are incorporated as a mixture and dispersed throughout a light transmissive material having a refractive index of 1.40 to 1.43. In some embodiments, the light transmission comprises a dimethyl-based silicone. The device may further comprise an orange to red light emitting phosphor operable to generate light having a peak emission wavelength of 580 nm to 620 nm.
