abstract | The present invention provides an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell, which comprises a carbon carrier having pores and catalyst particles supported on the carbon carrier and containing platinum or a platinum alloy. The pores of the electrode catalyst of the fuel cell have a most probable pore size in the range of 2 nm to 5 nm. As for the pores of the electrode catalyst of the fuel cell, the pore volume of pores having a pore diameter in the range of 2 nm to 5 nm is 0.4 cm 3 /g or more. The catalyst particles have a grain size in the range of 2 nm to 5 nm on the platinum (220) plane. The density of the supported catalyst particles is in the range of 10 mass % to 50 mass % with respect to the total mass of the electrode catalyst of the fuel cell. |
