abstract The invention relates to a streptococcus zooepidemicus strain (also called streptococcus zooepidemicus subspecies, Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus ) XJMSY16-1, CGMCC No.12428, has a 16S rRNA gene sequence in a sequence table 1; the strain is isolated from horse with streptococcus equi disease, gram-positive bacteria, cells are spherical, arranged in pairs or in bent long chains, and have poor growth in common broth and flat plate; beta-type hemolysis occurs on a 5% sheep fresh blood plate, a completely transparent hemolysis band is formed around the dew-like microcolonies, and the width can reach 2.5-3.2 mm. The growth is facultative anaerobic, the growth temperature is 26-40 ℃, the optimal growth temperature is 37 ℃, and the optimal growth pH7.4-7.5. Glucose is fermented to produce acid, and lactose, mannitol and sorbitol cannot be fermented. The strain can be used for preparing inactivated vaccines for streptococcus equi disease. The vaccine prepared by the strain has good pertinence, low cost, safety and good protection effect.
