abstract Methods, systems and devices are disclosed that provide a fluidic device having at least one solid phase extraction (SPE) bed adjacent to (upstream of) a separation channel (25) that may communicate with an inlet of a mass spectrometer (200). The fluidic device can be configured to operate using independently applied pressure to the background electrolyte (BGE) reservoir (20) and the sample reservoir (30) for pressure-driven injection that can plug discrete samples into Injection into a separate channel, which does not require voltage to be applied to the sample reservoir and may allow an in-channel focusing method to be used. The methods, systems and devices are particularly suited for use with mass spectrometers, although optical or other electronic detectors may also be used with the fluidic devices.
