Epoxy-functionalized silane coupling agents, surface-modified abrasive particles, and bonded abrasive articles |
abstract |
The present invention provides an epoxy-functional coupling agent comprising the reaction product of a polyepoxy compound and an aminosilane represented by the formula HNR 1 R 2 . R 1 represents Z-SiL 3 , and R 2 represents Z-SiL 3 or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Each Z independently represents a divalent linking group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and each L independently represents a hydrolyzable group. The coupling agent can be used to treat substrates, such as abrasive particles, that can be included in resin-bonded abrasive articles. |
