abstract A medical image processing apparatus is capable of acquiring a functional classification of a functional region corresponding to a nerve fiber bundle without using a result of blood oxygen level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging. The medical image processing apparatus includes: an extraction unit that extracts position information of a neural distribution from subject data; a first conversion unit that converts a subject nerve region based on the extracted position information into spectral data; an analysis unit that analyzes a positional relationship between a functional region in the brain and the converted neural region of the subject in the atlas data; and a second conversion unit that converts the analysis result of the analysis unit into the subject data.
