The present invention relates to methods of inhibiting or preventing photophobia in a subject in need thereof using an anti-CGRP antibody or antibody fragment that inhibits photophobia, particularly CGRP-related photophobia. These antibodies and fragments can be used to treat different photophobia-related conditions such as migraine, cluster headache, and the like. The present invention also provides assays using transgenic Nestin/Ramp1 rodents that utilize the CGRP model photophobia behavioral model to identify therapeutically efficacious agents with binding specificity for CGRP that inhibit or prevent photophobia in a subject in need thereof anti-CGRP antibodies and fragments thereof. The present invention specifically relates to methods for identifying therapeutically effective antibodies and fragments thereof having binding specificity for CGRP useful in the treatment of CGRP-related disorders such as migraine. Specifically, the present invention relates to assays and therapies using the antibodies and binding fragments thereof described herein for inhibiting or preventing photophobia, the antibodies comprising the sequences of the VH , VL and CDR polypeptides described herein, and polynucleotide encoding it. |
