The present application relates to a process for the recovery of chlorinated hydrocarbons. Provided herein is a process for the separation of 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane from a crude product stream containing 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane and ferric chloride. The process may include deep distillation of the crude product, treatment of the crude product with an agent that deactivates ferric chloride, subsequent distillation of the deactivated crude stream, water washing of the crude product stream to remove ferric chloride, subsequent distillation of the deactivated crude material flow. Other embodiments simultaneously produce 1,1,2,3-tetrachloropropene and 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane. |
