abstract | The present invention provides a process for the manufacture of delta-valerolactone. The method comprises the following steps: 1) performing addition reaction on acetonitrile and acrolein to obtain a reaction solution containing an intermediate product 5-aldehyde valeronitrile; 2) carrying out reduced pressure distillation, separation and purification on the reaction solution obtained in the step 1) to obtain 5-aldehyde valeronitrile, and carrying out hydrogenation reaction on the 5-aldehyde valeronitrile to generate 5-hydroxyl valeronitrile; 3) carrying out self-alcoholysis cyclization reaction on the 5-hydroxypentanenitrile obtained in the step 2) to obtain delta-valerolactone. The total yield of the reaction reaches more than 95 percent. The method has the advantages of cheap and easily-obtained raw materials, small environmental pollution, mild reaction conditions, low cost, high yield and easy product purification, and is suitable for industrial production. |
