A method for preparing polyimide particles, comprising: in the presence of an emulsifying surfactant, at a shear rate of 1,000 to 3,000 revolutions/minute, 1,000 to 2,500 revolutions/minute or 1,500 to less than 2,500 revolutions/minute, containing combining a polyimide solution of polyimide and an organic solvent with an aqueous solution containing water to form an emulsion; removing the organic solvent to form an aqueous polymer dispersion comprising polyimide particles; and recovering the polyimide particles, The polyimide particles have a spherical morphology, and a volume-based D10 diameter of 3 to 50 microns, preferably 3 to 45 microns, and a volume-based D90 diameter of 3 to 80 microns, 3 to 75 microns or 3 to 45 microns, and D100 diameter on a volume basis of 3 to 100 microns, 3 to 75 microns or 10 to 75 microns. |
