Disclosed is a coating device for coating a surface movable relative to the device with a layer of metal particles or particles having a metal-like appearance and reflectivity, the particles being more strongly bonded to the surface than to each other bonding. The device comprises at least one spray head 1401 for applying directly or indirectly to the surface 12 a fluid stream in which the particles are suspended, surrounding the spray head 1401 and delimiting an internal collection for confining the fluid stream a housing 1403 of a cavity 1406, said housing having an edge 1404 adjacent said surface, arranged to prevent the egress of particles from the sealed gap defined between the housing edge and the surface to be coated, and a rim 1404 connected to said housing The source is suctioned to remove the spray fluid and particles suspended in the spray fluid from the collection chamber.
