| abstract | An apparatus for obtaining a bodily fluid sample from a patient includes a front sample reservoir, a transfer mechanism, and a flow metering mechanism. The transfer mechanism has an inlet port couplable to the lumen-defining device to receive bodily fluids from the patient, a first outlet port fluidly couplable to the front sample reservoir, and a second outlet port fluidly couplable to the sample reservoir. The transfer mechanism defines first and second fluid flow paths configured to place the first and second outlet ports in fluid communication with the inlet ports, respectively. The flow metering mechanism is configured to meter the flow of a predetermined volume of bodily fluid into the front sample reservoir through the first fluid flow path, meter the flow of the second volume of bodily fluid into the sample reservoir through the second fluid flow path, and display a relationship between the predetermined volume and the A volume indication relative to the second volume. |
