abstract | The present invention provides a polarizing film in which iodine is adsorbed and oriented to a polyvinyl alcohol resin (PVA) film, the boron content is in the range of 1 to 3.5 wt%, the polarizing film is cut into a size of 2mm x 10mm with the absorption axis as the long side, and when the polarizing film is heated at 80 ℃ for 4 hours, the shrinkage force in the direction of the absorption axis is 2.8N or less, and the b value of the orthorhombic color tone is in the range of-2.2 to +0.5, and a polarizing plate having a protective layer formed on the polarizing film. The polarizing film can be produced by subjecting a PVA film to iodine dyeing, boric acid treatment, and water washing in this order, uniaxially stretching in or before the boric acid treatment, and primary drying for drying the film between the boric acid treatment and the water washing. |
