Metallic nanowires with uniform noble metal coatings are described. Two methods are disclosed for the successful formation of such uniform noble metal coatings, namely electrochemical exchange and direct deposition. Both the electrochemical exchange reaction and the direct deposition method benefit from the inclusion of appropriate strong binding ligands to control or regulate the coating process to form a uniform coating. Noble metal-coated nanowires are effectively used to fabricate stable transparent conductive films, which may comprise molten metal nanostructured networks. |
