A solid electrolyte containing a sulfide-based solid electrolyte represented by the composition formula (Li 2 S) x (MS 2 ) y (P 2 S 5 ) z , wherein M is selected from the group consisting of Ge and Sb, and a lithium battery containing the same , at least one of Si, Sn, B, Al, Ga, In, Zr, V, Nb, wherein 0.53≤x≤0.74, 0.13≤y≤0.37, 0.04≤z≤0.15, x+y+z=1 .
