The present invention discloses solution processable materials for the fabrication of optical reflectors and organic memories having a donor-acceptor system comprising a boron(III) moiety as an electron acceptor unit. More specifically, it describes the fabrication of optical reflectors and organic memories using as active materials donor-acceptor compounds comprising boron(III) having a chemical structure represented by the following general formula (I), where B is a boron atom; Each boron atom may optionally bind one or two of X 1 , X 2 , X 3 and X 4 and two of Y 1 , Y 2 , Y 3 and Y 4 ; X 1 , X 2 , X 3 and X4 is independently a heteroatom or a carbon atom, wherein the heteroatom or group can be F, Cl, Br, I or OR, and R is a substituent that can be selected from an alkyl group or an aromatic group on a specific heteroatom or carbon atom ; Y 1 , Y 2 , Y 3 and Y 4 are independently heteroatoms, wherein the heteroatoms or groups can be O, S, Se, Ge, Te, PR or NR, and R is optional on specific heteroatoms or carbon atoms Substituents from alkyl or aromatic groups; Z 1 , Z 2 , Z 3 and Z 4 are ring structure derivatives; D 1 , D 2 and D 3 are optionally alkyl-substituted aromatic groups; And n and m may optionally be any integer. |
