abstract Apparatus, systems and methods for detecting defects in bonded areas including adhesive mixed with fluorescent material. One or more lighting devices may illuminate the fluorescent material in the bonding region with light of a predetermined wavelength. The camera may be configured to capture images of the illuminated bonding area. A processing device communicatively coupled to the camera may be configured to process the acquired image by applying one or more bounding regions to the acquired image and determining image characteristics within each of the bounding regions An image, wherein the processing device uses the image characteristics to determine the presence of defects in the adhesive, such as excess adhesive or underapplication of adhesive.
