Variable optics ophthalmic device including liquid crystal elements |
abstract |
The present invention is entitled "Variable Optic Ophthalmic Device Including Liquid Crystal Cells". The present invention discloses methods and apparatus for providing a variable optic insert into an ophthalmic lens as previously described. An energy source is capable of powering a variable optic insert included within an ophthalmic lens. In some embodiments, the ophthalmic lenses are cast molded from silicone hydrogels. Various ophthalmic lens entities may include electroactive liquid crystal layers to electrically control refractive properties. |
