titleOfInvention | Polymeric peptides and gels with collagen-mimetic peptide structures |
abstract | Collagen can be used as a medical material, but its use in humans poses a risk of allergy and zoonotic infections. Here, the use of artificial collagen etc. as a medical material is discussed. However, conventional artificial collagens are not necessarily perfect in terms of physical strength, denaturation when heated, and inability to be processed into sheets, and thus have shortcomings in practical inventions. The present invention prepares a polymeric peptide by oxidatively cross-linking a collagen mimetic peptide having a triple helix structure composed of three peptide chains containing a plurality of cysteine (Cys) residues. The present polymeric peptide can be processed into a hydrogel and a thin film sheet, and by integrating a functional amino acid sequence existing in a biopolymer, it can impart specific physiological functions such as cell adhesion. Further, the present invention provides methods for producing the polymeric peptides and the like, and uses as compositions for cell culture, wound covering, regenerative medical materials, and research materials using these polymeric peptides and gels. |
