abstract | An optical modulator and a three-dimensional image acquisition apparatus including the optical modulator are provided. The optical modulator may comprise an optical modulation layer comprising a phase change material. The first electrode may be provided on the first surface of the optical modulation layer. The second electrode may be provided on the second surface of the optical modulation layer. The first phase-control layer may be arranged to face the optical modulation layer with the first electrode disposed between the first phase-control layer and the optical modulation layer. The second phase control layer may be arranged to face the optical modulation layer with the second electrode disposed between the second phase control layer and the optical modulation layer. Each of the first phase-control layer and the second phase-control layer may have an optical thickness corresponding to an odd multiple of λ/4, where λ is a target wavelength of incident light to be modulated. The optical modulator may further comprise at least one reflective layer arranged to face the optical modulation layer. The optical modulation layer may have a thickness of about 10nm or less. The operating voltage of the optical modulator may be about 10V or less. |
