abstract | A high throughput combinatorial materials assay apparatus for in situ synthesis and real-time characterization includes a component dispensing device for preparing a continuous or discrete distribution of components as precursors to a high throughput assay sample library; a low-temperature diffusion mixing device for sufficiently mixing the component dispersion in a thickness direction by diffusion at a relatively low temperature to form an amorphous precursor; and an integrated synthesis-characterization unit for heat-treating the material library precursors in parallel or point-by-point scanning under different thermodynamic conditions for phasing and characterizing the characteristics and properties of the material of interest in an in-situ and real-time manner. The integrated synthesis-characterization unit comprises a cavity maintained in a required vacuum degree and atmosphere, a micro-area heating source, an excitation source, a signal collector and a sample stage. |
