abstract | Apparatus for separating and gripping an outermost plate made of ferromagnetic material from a stack of ferromagnetic plate material, comprising: - Bracket structure with features for attaching the bracket as an end-of-arm tool (EOAT) to a machine a mount for an arm arranged to move and position the device between an operative position adjacent to the side of the stack of ferromagnetic plates and a remote position away from the stack of ferromagnetic plates; at the support structure and having a switchable magnet and a pair of spread out pole pieces magnetizable by the magnets with opposite polarities, the spread out pole pieces being located at the support such that when in the operating position of the device, They face the side of the plates of the stack and extend over the thickness of at least the outermost plates of the stack and the plates below, whereby, in the open state of the magnet, the pole pieces are spread out in the edge regions of these plates.
