titleOfInvention | Ultrasound Urinary Bladder Drug Delivery |
abstract | A kit comprising: a urinary catheter including a first longitudinal lumen and a second longitudinal lumen; an ultrasonic transducer disposed adjacent to the catheter; a balloon mounted on the catheter and surrounding the catheter the transducer; and a reservoir containing an acoustic coupling medium, wherein: the catheter further includes a first opening in the first longitudinal lumen, the first opening being disposed within the bladder and configured to inflate the balloon with at least some of the acoustic coupling medium, the catheter further includes a second opening in the second longitudinal lumen, the second opening is disposed outside the balloon, and is configured to deliver a therapeutic fluid into the urethral bladder around the sac, and activation of the transducer in the urethral bladder causes cavitation bubbles to form in the therapeutic fluid adjacent to the inner surface of the urethral bladder, and Little or no cavitation bubbles are formed in the acoustic coupling medium in the bladder. |
