abstract |
The present invention provides an improved method for recovering a protein expressed by porcine circovirus type 2 open reading frame 2. The method generally comprises the steps of: recombinant virus containing open reading frame 2 coding sequence is transfected into cells grown in culture medium, the virus is allowed to express open reading frame 2, and the protein expressed in the supernatant is recovered. Recovery should begin about 5 days after infection of the cells to express sufficient recombinant protein expression and secretion from the cells into the growth medium. This method avoids the costly and time-consuming extraction steps required to isolate and recover the recombinant protein within the cell. |
