The invention provides a method for preparing bisarylquinoline antibiotics by optical resolution, comprising using optically active dioxaphosphorinane as a resolution reagent, and optically pure (αS, βR)-6 -Bromo-α-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-2-methoxy-α-1-naphthyl-β-phenyl-3-quinoline ethanol from 6-bromo-α-[2- (Dimethylamino)ethyl]-2-methoxy-α-1-naphthyl-β-phenyl-3-quinoline ethanol was isolated in high yield and high optical purity from a mixture of stereoisomers. |
