titleOfInvention | Suppressing Harmonic Signals in Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method for reducing harmonic signals in the FT-ICR spectrum. For the same ion motion in the ICR cell, since the abundance of harmonic signals in quadrupole 2ω detection can be better compared to that in classical bipolar 1ω detection, so far it has not been possible by any known Methods (eg gated deflection during ion introduction and then correcting for the offset of the electric field axis in the ICR cell) reduce these harmonic signals to a satisfactory level. The present disclosure foresees that at least two quadrupole 2ω detections need to be performed, where the phase of the ion excitation radio frequency in the second measurement is switched 180, in addition to other methods performed to improve measurement conditions (as the case may be) °. From the total transient, the Fourier transform spectrum is obtained. As a result, the broad spectrum of complex material mixtures (eg, crude oil) becomes cleaner, thus minimizing false (harmonic) peaks misreading. |
