abstract | A system for sampling sample material includes a probe, which may have a probe outer body and an open end. The liquid supply conduit within the housing has an outlet positioned to deliver liquid to the open end of the housing. A liquid supply conduit may be connected to a liquid supply for delivering liquid to the open end of the housing at a first volumetric flow rate. A liquid drain conduit is provided within the housing for removing liquid from the open end of the housing. A liquid drain system may be provided for removing liquid from the liquid drain conduit at a second volumetric flow rate, the first volumetric flow rate being greater than the second volumetric flow rate, wherein the liquid at the open end will receive the sample and the liquid containing the sample material will be drawn into and through the liquid discharge conduit, the liquid will overflow from the open end. |
