The technology provided herein relates to novel methods and compounds for infection control of various pathogens. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a method of inhibiting the growth of a target pathogen expressing a cysteine-rich secreted protein (CSP), wherein the method comprises contacting the target pathogen with an inhibitor against the CSP, wherein the Such inhibitors inhibit CSP expression and/or binding to the protein product of the gene encoding CSP. Also disclosed are nucleic acid molecules encoding said inhibitors, vectors and host cells containing nucleic acids, methods for preparing and producing these inhibitors, and the use of said CSP inhibitors in controlling/treating diseases associated with microbial pathogens expressing CSP the use of. |
