abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a polycyclic aromatic compound having improved solubility in solvents, film-forming properties, wet coating properties, and in-plane orientation. The problem is solved by the composition for forming a light emitting layer comprising: as a first component, a compound selected from a compound represented by the following general formula (A-1) and the following general formula ( At least one of the group consisting of compounds represented by A-2); at least one compound having a triplet energy (E T ) of 1.8 eV to 3.0 eV as the second component; and at least one compound as the third component an organic solvent. In each formula, R is hydrogen, aryl, heteroaryl, diarylamino, diheteroarylamino or arylheteroarylamino, etc.
