abstract |
The present invention relates to an EPDM type rubber composition used for the sponge part in the passenger car weather strip. Ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) rubber compositions for use in sponges in weatherstrips are provided. In the EPDM rubber composition, free sulfur and 1,6-bis(N,N-dibenzylthiocarbamoyldithio)-hexane (BDBzTH) are contained in a composition having a Mooney viscosity of 90 or more (ML 1+8 at 125°C) value and 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene (ENB) content of 9 wt% or more in EPDM rubber. EPDM rubber compositions can improve compression set and provide a solution to the persistent discoloration problem of EPDM rubber. Provided herein are EPDM compositions that can be used as materials for the sponge portion of weather strips in passenger cars. |
