abstract The invention discloses a swab eluent with sample preservation and inactivation functions, which consists of 20-55% of [ w/v ] guanidine isothiocyanate, 1-25 mM of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, 20-100mM of buffer solution, 1-5% of dithiothreitol [ w/v ], 1-5% of surfactant and 3-10 glass beads or polypropylene plastic beads. The prepared eluent has low cost and stable performance, can store DNA/RNA, and realizes the elution of a swab sample and the storage and transportation at normal temperature: and the method can inactivate pathogens, has the inactivation effect of samples, can greatly reduce the risk of laboratory exposure infection, and does not influence subsequent nucleic acid extraction because guanidine isothiocyanate used in eluent is a common chemical component for nucleic acid extraction.
