abstract The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for reporting a channel quality indicator through a relay node in a wireless communication system. The present invention relates to a method of reporting, by a relay node, a channel quality indicator for a relay node-specific physical downlink shared channel (R-PDSCH) from a base station in a wireless communication system. More particularly, the method comprises the steps of: receiving one or more reference signals from the base station, calculating a channel quality indicator for R-PDSCH based on the one or more reference signals; and reporting the channel quality indicator to the base station. The calculation of the channel quality indicator is performed under the assumption that a certain number of available resource elements (NRE) is contained in the subframe in which the R-PDSCH is transmitted. A specific number of available resource elements (NRE) is determined based on information on the start symbol of the R-PDSCH and information on the last symbol of the R-PDSCH, which are set by an upper layer signal.
