Method suitable for producing water-resistant ion-conducting flexible membranes |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a method of producing a water-resistant, ion-conducting flexible membrane for the protection of metal electrodes. The method includes synthesizing compacted fibers by electrically assisted extrusion, the compacted fibers forming an array of ionically conductive fibers comprising a first material. The array of fibers defines a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. Subsequently, the fiber array is impregnated with a polymer of the second material to form a protective film for the metal electrodes. The array of fibers forms an ion-conducting path between the first surface and the second surface and through the second material. The first surface contacts the metal electrode. |
