abstract The invention provides a casting device and a solution film-forming method for manufacturing an optical film with more uniform thickness by further restraining wind. The casting device comprises a casting belt, a die, a box-shaped wind shielding box and a suction mechanism. The die discharges the dopant from a slit-shaped outlet. The wind shielding box is arranged at the upstream of the die in the advancing direction of the casting belt and shields accompanying wind. The suction mechanism sucks air inside the wind screen box. The windbox has an opposed plate opposed to the casting belt, the opposed plate extending along a traveling direction of the casting belt. Second openings extending in the longitudinal direction of the outlet of the die are formed in the opposing plate at the downstream end in the running direction of the casting belt and at one end side and the other end side in the longitudinal direction of the outlet of the die, respectively.
