titleOfInvention | System and method for controlling imaging depth in tissue using a fluorescence microscope with UV excitation following staining with a fluorescent agent |
abstract | The present disclosure relates to methods for analyzing tissue samples. In one implementation, the method includes acquiring a tissue sample and exposing the sample to one or more fluorophores as contrast agents to enhance the contrast of subcellular compartments of the tissue sample. The tissue sample is irradiated with ultraviolet (UV) light having wavelengths between about 200 nm and about 400 nm, wherein the wavelengths are selected to cause penetration to only a certain depth below the surface of the tissue sample. Inter-image manipulation between images acquired at different imaging parameters enables image quality to be improved by removing unwanted image components. The tissue sample can be imaged using a microscope and provided to an image acquisition system using a camera. The image acquisition system may generate corresponding images that are communicated to the display system for processing and display. |
