abstract |
A filter support sheet extruded from a fluoroplastic material includes a base portion having spaced ribs extending outwardly from at least one surface thereof. Segments between the spaced ribs provide flow channels, and holes are punched through the sheet in a predetermined pattern that is not affected by the structure of the support sheet. The method includes extruding a thermoplastic fluoroplastic material to form a sheet; (2) passing the sheet through a nip area provided by opposing rollers; at least one outer surface having countersunk grooves. The countersunk grooves in one roll are aligned with the outer surface or countersunk grooves in the other of the rolls in the nip area to form a belt with ribs upstanding from at least one surface of the sheet the ribbed sheet; (3) solidifying the ribbed sheet and (4) punching holes in a predetermined pattern to form holes through the ribbed sheet. |
