The present invention relates to a novel alumina gel having a high dispersion index, in particular higher than 70%, a crystallite size of 1 to 35 nm, and a sulfur content of 0.001 to 2% by weight, and 0.001 Sodium content of % by weight to 2% by weight, percent by weight expressed relative to the total mass of the alumina gel.
