abstract | A spectrometer includes a light source that emits a light beam into a sample volume containing an absorbing medium. Thereafter, at least one detector detects at least a portion of the light beam emitted by the light source. It is then determined by the controller that the position and/or angle of the beam should be changed based on at least a portion of the detected beam and by the controller. The light beam emitted by the light source is then effectively diverted by the actuating element under the control of the controller. Additionally, the concentration of the absorption medium can be quantified or otherwise calculated (using a local or remote controller or optionally a different processor). An actuation element can be coupled to one or more of the light source, the detector, and a reflector positioned between the light source and the detector. |
