titleOfInvention | Equipment for maintaining harvested hearts to be transplanted |
abstract | An apparatus, system, and method for maintaining and monitoring a resected donor heart. The apparatus includes a first part to be received by the resected heart and immersed in the continuously circulating perfusate, and a second part including means for regulating the temperature and oxygen content of the perfusate. The first component includes an integral pair of defibrillation pads. The first catheter infrastructure interconnects the first module, the second module and the aorta of the resected donor heart, pushing the perfusate from the first module through the second module into the aorta. A second conduit infrastructure connects the first module to the right and left atria for pushing perfusate from the first module into the atrium. The third conduit infrastructure connects the first module to the pulmonary artery and provides back pressure for perfusate flow from the pulmonary artery. |
