abstract | A method implemented in a network device of a software-defined network (SDN) system for compressing the network state of an SDN system is disclosed. The method includes combining flow tables of a set of network elements into a combined table, wherein each row in the combined table is keyed by a common field of each flow table. The method continues by selecting a set of columns of the combined table for compression, wherein the selection is based at least in part on the topology of the set of network elements within the network, and compressing the set of columns of the combined table into a set of compressed entries and a set of classification and regression trees (CaRT), Wherein, upon request for an entity in the predicted subset, the entry in the predicted subset and the corresponding CaRT are used to restore the entity in the predicted subset. |
