abstract A melt polymerization process for preparing photoactive additives is disclosed. The photoactive additive is a crosslinkable polycarbonate resin formed from benzophenone, dihydroxy chain extender, carbonate precursor and catalyst. The additive can be prepared without the use of phosgene or methylene chloride and can crosslink with other polymers when exposed to UV radiation.
