titleOfInvention | Prosthetic valve and method of making prosthetic valve |
abstract | The invention relates to a prosthetic valve comprising a leaflet assembly having at least one leaflet (3) connected to a support element (2), said leaflet having a valve movable between a first position and a second position. a free edge, wherein in a first position, the free edge bends away from the closing surface (700) to allow body fluid to flow through the valve; in a second position, the free edge abuts the closing surface to close the valve , and wherein the leaflets are capable of forming a coaptation height greater than 0.1 mm along the length of the free edge in the absence of pulsatile loading on the valve. Such prosthetic valves provide good long-term performance and can be manufactured using a variety of materials suitable for the leaflets. The invention also relates to leaflet assemblies for use in prosthetic valves, and methods of making prosthetic valves, including making the leaflet assemblies. |
