titleOfInvention | Offline Glucose Control Based on Previous Period |
abstract | The devices and methods calculate and deliver doses of insulin and optionally glucagon into a subject. On-line operation automatically controls the delivery of corrective doses of insulin in response to regular glucose measurements from sensors, and off-line operation calculates and delivers corrective doses based on independent glucose measurements and information collected autonomously during previous on-line operations. In another aspect, offline operation includes automatically calculating and administering meal doses based on information collected autonomously during a previous session of online operation. Both methods involve generating relevant control parameters that are adapted to the individual and that continue to converge and possibly be modulated during periods of on-line operation. Control parameters are utilized in real time during off-line operating periods to adjust glucose levels without the need for user-supplied control parameters such as correction factors and insulin/carbohydrate ratios. |
