A respiratory device, such as a ventilator, for use in the treatment of respiratory disorders and for the prevention of respiratory disorders. The breathing apparatus is configured to be powered from a number of different power sources including an internal battery, an external battery, an AC power source, or a DC power source. The device can be electrically connected to multiple external batteries in a string, and power from each external battery is used in turn along the string. The controller of the respiratory device is configured to detect connection of the different power sources and to control usage of the different power sources using a power priority scheme. The controller may determine an estimate of the total available battery capacity from all electrically connected batteries and display the total battery capacity on a user interface display of the device. |
