The invention discloses an ultrasonic forceps, which comprises a casing, an acoustic component and a chuck. The housing engages the acoustic assembly and collet to the jaws and allows the collet to pivot relative to the acoustic assembly. The acoustic assembly includes a transducer, a waveguide, and an ultrasonic blade and a waveguide sheath. The transducer is configured to generate ultrasonic vibrations, thereby directing the ultrasonic vibrations to the waveguide. The waveguide transmits the ultrasonic vibration distally to the ultrasonic blade. The ultrasonic blade is configured to vibrate in response to the ultrasonic vibrations generated by the transducer. The collet is configured to be movable toward the ultrasonic blade when the collet is pivoted relative to the transducer. Tissue can be grasped between the collet and the ultrasonic blade. The ultrasonic vibrations produced by the transducer can denature the tissue when the ultrasonic blade vibrates, thereby causing the tissue to be cut and/or sealed. |
