abstract A wave soldering machine (10) comprising a preheating station (20), a wave soldering station (22) and a conveyor (16) for conveying a substrate (12) through a channel passing through the preheating station (20) and the wave soldering station (22). The channel has a substantially oxygen-free environment. The preheat station (20) includes a preheater including a support frame assembly and a heater assembly supported by the support frame assembly. The heater assembly is slidably coupled to the support frame assembly between an operative position and an inoperative position. The preheater further includes a seal disposed between the heater assembly and the support frame assembly. The seal provides a hermetic seal to prevent air from entering the channel when the heater assembly is in the operative position, thereby maintaining a substantially oxygen-free environment within the channel.
